Urban Development and Housing Minister Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga says that 864 housing units are planned to be built this year by spending 648 million rupees.
The housing units are expected to be constructed under the "Home for All" project implemented as per the instructions of Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
Also, 760 houses are scheduled to be completed under the Indian Aid Housing Program at a cost of 578 million rupees.
The National Housing Development Authority says that it expects to complete the housing project within this year itself after receiving the relevant funds
from the Indian High Commission.
The National Housing Development Authority further states that an amount of 76 million rupees has been allocated under the treasury funds for the development
of the infrastructure of the people residing in those houses.
In addition, 560 semi-luxury housing units are to be constructed. Under that project, 140 houses with a size of 685 square feet and 420 three-room housing units will be built.
The National Housing Development Authority says that it signed an agreement with an Indian developer, CDC Industrial Information Institute, to build the project last year.
According to a request made by the Minister of Urban Development and Housing Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga from the government, the National Housing Development Authority has been given
Rs. 3,750 Minister Prasanna Ranatunga advised the National Housing Development Authority to use the money to complete the construction of the "Obata Geyak - Ratata Hetak"
and "Mihindu Nivahana" housing projects.
Also, the National Housing Development Authority has also prepared plans to provide more than 1500 title deeds this year under the title deeds grant program
implemented according to the concept of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga advised the National Housing Development Authority to coordinate with the Land Commissioner's Office and the Land Development Corporation to quickly
resolve the issues regarding the issuance of title deeds.
