Another model village built with Indian aid was handed over to the people yesterday (04) morning. This village built in the Medagama Divisional Secretariat Division of Monaragala District is Titthwalkivula Indian Model Village. The village was handed over to the people under the leadership of the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha and the Secretary of the Ministry of Rural and Urban Development, Housing, and Construction, EMPB Athapattu.
This village is built on an area of 1.1206 hectares (02 acres) and not less than 15 perches of land has been given to each person along with the house. The number of houses built in the village is 24. 44,494,678.00 has been spent for this village, which has water, electricity, and an internal road system. The beneficiaries' contribution has also been given to the construction of this village. Apart from this, the contribution of the Divisional Secretariat and the Divisional Council has also been given. The construction of this village has been coordinated by the National Housing Development Authority.
05 lakh per family under the assistance of the Government of India and Rs 1 lakh each from the National Housing Development Authority. For infrastructure development, the Electricity Board has incurred an expenditure of 800,000, and the cooling water project has an expenditure of 4,071,328.
National Housing Development Authority Chairman Mr. NBM Ranatunga General Manager Engineer KA Janaka, and other ministry officials and Indian High Commission officials participated in this event.
