A week for housing assistance will be declared in order to provide loan installment areas.

Due to the Covid – 19 Pandemic and economic crisis the provision of housing loans and assistance which was temporarily suspended, will resume shortly. A housing week will be declared for this purpose. Accordingly Minister of Urban Development and Housing Hon. Prasanna Ranatunga instructed the relevant officials to take swift action to complete the next installments of these loans and aid programmes to the beneficiaries within a week from 15th to 20th of February.
This decisions was taken in a meeting held with Districts Managers last Friday at Battaramulla. During the period of 2020 – 2022. The NHDA has implemented two loan and aid programmes such as Obatageyak Ratata Hetak, Mihindu Nivahana. Due to the last Covid Pandemic and economic crisis the payment of second, third and fourth installments of the projects have been temporarily suspended. Under this programme action were taken to provide housing assistance for the construction of a house in each Grama Niladari division. Under this programme Rs. 283 million have been allocated by the Authority to pay the remaining installments. At this meeting Hon. Minister Prasanna Ranatunga also instructed the NHDA officials to formulate a housing assistance programme for the people who are living in North and East provincial areas as well as plantation areas.

Sathyananda, Vice Chairman of NHDA, Mr. Laxman Gunawaredana, the General Manager of NHDA, Mr. K..A. Janaka and the District Managers of NHDA were also participated at this meeting.
