Everyone should work hard to achieve the goals of the new year, as mentioned in the State Employees' Pledge.
- Let's commit ourselves to achieve the goals of the new year as stated in the State Employees' Pledge....
- Let's work on a new format to achieve new year goals...
- Even if it is a small task assigned to him, finish it on time.
According to the secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, W.S. Satyananda, everyone should work hard to achieve the goals of the new year, as mentioned in the State Employees' Pledge.
He also mentions that we should get rid of the previous year's model and work towards a new model to achieve the goals of the new year.
The Secretary of the Ministry stated this while participating in the ceremony held today (2) at the Ministry Auditorium in Battaramulla, Suhurupaya for the commencement of the new year's duties.
There he also said:
We started working on the pledge announced by the government in this new year as well. As public servants, we have to implement this pledge not only today but also in the remaining three hundred and sixty four days.
At the beginning of last year, we did not have so many challenges. But at the beginning of this year, there is a big responsibility to fulfill for the government and the people. Therefore, every word of the public servant pledge should remain in our hearts throughout this year. We get paid for doing public service. You have to remember that. But we should not work for the amount of salary we receive.
This year, the work of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has to be implemented in a new format. Therefore, we have to get rid of the model that worked last year to some extent this year. We have proposed a new organizational structure for the Management Services Department.
According to the instructions given by the government and the Treasury, the Department of Management Services will work to approve the staff in the next few days. In the future, they will get to know their respective responsibilities personally. Accordingly, we have to work hard to win the final goal of the government.
According to the instructions received from the Minister of Urban Development and Housing Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga and the two State Ministers, we are committed to working 365 days a year to wipe away the tears of the public. When working for the public, sometimes what happens to them is a very small task. As public servants, we are bound to perform that minor task on time.
As public servants, we are obliged to properly implement the policies introduced by the government to make the country economically prosperous.
So re-read the pledge you recited at the beginning of the new year. Use your creative ideas and knowledge to strengthen public service. As the secretary, I work to present such things to the government.
This year, the secretaries of the ministries have to work under a special program. I also told the President's Secretary on the day of accepting the appointment that ministry secretaries should be assigned work in such a way that they can work according to a certain goal.
As the Secretary of the Ministry, I am ultimately responsible for all the work done by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.
He also said that if we cannot work according to a target, we should give place to suitable people and leave.
Officials including additional secretaries of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing participated in the event.
