National Housing Development Authority's debt recovery exceeds Rs 300 million in November...

The National Housing Development Authority has been able to earn an income of 303 million rupees by recovering debts and disposing of properties related to the month of November, according to its chairman Mr. Rajeev Suriyarachchi.
He mentions that due to the struggling situation in the country and the economic crisis, the debt recovery of the National Housing Development Authority had dropped a lot after last March.
Accordingly, on the advice of Urban Development and Housing Minister Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga, all the district managers of the National Housing Development Authority were called to Kandy and given the target of collecting a loan amount of 300 million rupees per month, the Chairman mentioned that a new plan was introduced for that purpose.
He said that after the workshop, the ability to gradually develop the debt recovery. He said that the growth of the National Housing Development Authority's income is a great achievement in view of the economic crisis the country is facing.
The chairman said that the National Housing Development Authority is expecting an income of over 300 million rupees this month as well and said that the National Housing Development Authority has already prepared the necessary plans to maintain the same level of income next year as well.
The National Housing Development Authority spends nearly 150 million rupees on employee salaries and other expenses. However, according to the current income, the National Housing Development Authority is capable of running without burdening the treasury, the chairman said.
He also said that in this year's budget, an amount of 3750 million rupees has been allocated to the National Housing Development Authority, and out of that amount, nearly 2750 million rupees will have to be allocated to complete the projects that have stopped halfway.
The chairman also mentioned that the National Housing Development Authority has also planned to implement a program to sell houses for dollars in the future as per the instructions of Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
