In line with the theme “A Place of One’s Own – A Beautiful Life,” the opening of two newly constructed houses in the Okewela Divisional Secretariat Division of the Hambantota District was held recently under the patronage of Hambantota District Member of Parliament, Dr. Saliya Sadaruwan Madarasinghe.
The houses opened on this occasion belong to Ms. Amitha Dharmaseeli, a resident of the Natuwala Grama Niladhari Division in the Okewela Divisional Secretariat Division, and Mr. Roshan Chandima, a resident of the Wawwa Grama Niladhari Division.
Under the current government’s new housing programme, houses are being constructed for low-income families, and this programme is being implemented by the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA).
For the construction of one house, the National Housing Development Authority provides a financial grant of Rs. 1 million to each beneficiary.
Several officials, including the Hambantota District Manager of the National Housing Development Authority, Mr. Nandasena Watagedara, participated in this event.
