A discussion on the implementation of the “National Housing Programme 2026”

A discussion on the implementation of the “National Housing Programme 2026” was held today (16) at the Head Office of the National Housing Development Authority, under the patronage of the Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply, Dr. Susil Ranasinghe, and the Deputy Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply, T. B. Sarath.

The programme aimed at addressing the housing deficit during this year, as proposed in the 2026 Budget, is the National Housing Programme 2026. Under this programme, it is proposed to complete 31,000 housing units, of which the responsibility for constructing 15,000 houses has been assigned to the National Housing Development Authority. A special feature of this programme is that it will be implemented in addition to the housing reconstruction programme for houses damaged by recent disasters.

The discussion was attended by the Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. Kumudulal Bogahawatta, the Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority, Mr. Aravinda Sirinatha, the General Manager, other members of the senior management, and District Managers.
