A plan to issue 2,000 freehold land title deeds this year.
The awarding of freehold land deeds to 326 beneficiaries was held at the Tharuka Mandapa Auditorium, Higurakgoda, Polonnaruwa under the chairmanship of
Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Urban Development and Housing.
Here, the Higurakgoda Divisional Secretariat awarded land licenses to 197 beneficiaries and land allotment papers to 43 beneficiaries. Polonnaruwa

The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has started providing land deeds and housing assistance at the district level. The first one was done in Polonnaruwa.
The National Housing Development Authority is currently implementing various housing programs targeting estate houses, rural and urban low-income families.
"A house for you - a future for the country" housing program and "Mihidu Nivahana" housing program are the main among them.
Also, between last year and this year, freehold deeds have been given to 1,890 home owners all over the island.
State Minister of Highways Siripala Gamlath, Polonnaruwa District Coordinating Committee Chairman and Member of Parliament Jagath Samarawickrama, National Housing Development Authority Chairman Rajeev Suriyaarachchi, its Vice Chairman Lakshman Gunawardena, Polonnaruwa Additional District Commissioner R.M.K.R.B. Rathnayake, Higurakgoda Divisional Secretary Harsha Bandara, National Housing Development Authority Polonnaruwa District Manager Chaminda Thennakoon and others participated.
